SLC Rail is the appointed Rail Advisor to Worcestershire County Council under an agreement lasting four years.

Client: Worcestershire County Council.
Working partners: Various.
Scheme cost: Projects worth up to £2.5m over 4 years
SLC team: Ian Baxter, Mike Haigh, Mark Beckett

Worcestershire County Council has worked with SLC Rail for several years, undertaking feasibility studies, developing rail schemes and helping to securing funding. The council has now formalised the working relationship, appointing SLC Rail as the council's rail advisor for a four year period.

Through the agreement, the council will gain the in-depth expertise of the SLC Rail team, including railway operations and investment, strategic rail planning, feasibility assessment, scheme development, timetable proposals, commercial agreements and rail project management.

Ongoing activity

We are currently working together on rail strategies, feasibility studies and early stage scheme development.

The Worcestershire Rail Investment Strategy was published for public consultation in July 2017 (see draft strategy document). Responses will be analysed and a summary report will be produced and published in the Autumn.

Our combined project teams are focused on the new Worcestershire Parkway station and Kidderminster station replacement while also providing strategic, commercial and technical advice on other rail studies and schemes.
