On March 28, Scott Edwards, a Senior Project Engineer at SLC Rail, returned to the University of Wolverhampton, to deliver a guest lecture to its final year Civil Engineering students.

Scott graduated from the university with a first in Civil and Transportation Engineering six years ago.

Scott explained:   “It was great to go back to the University of Wolverhampton to speak with the class about how we work at SLC Rail and about some of the real-world engineering challenges we are faced with on rail projects.”

The lecture was also attended by Klein Matapo, a Graduate Engineer who joined the company last year after attending the company’s first ever Graduate Recruitment Day.

The visit to University of Wolverhampton was part of SLC Rail’s ongoing efforts to engage with the next generation of engineers and encourage them to pursue careers in rail.

Dr Alaa Hamood, Principal Lecturer and Head of the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Wolverhampton said:  “It was great to have Scott back at the University of Wolverhampton to deliver a lecture to our final year Civil Engineering students on SLC Rail and mining. Students enjoyed the lecture and were keen to learn more about the technical aspects of ground grouting. We highly appreciate Scott’s time, and we would love to have him again in the future.”

SLC Rail is currently accepting applications for its next Graduate Engineer to join the business from September 2023.  The CV submission deadline is Thursday, 4 May 2023.
