Wrexham Central platform extension

Project Overview

We worked with TfW, Network Rail and other partners on this project, which allowed us to demonstrate our in-house engineering and design capability. We supported the client with the delivery of the work on site, management of the construction contract and was also the client representative and construction manager.

Working on this scheme since the start of GRIP 3, we undertook an option selection exercise to identify the preferred solution to extend the platform by 11 metres. Re-engaged by Transport for Wales to produce the full GRIP 4-5 design, we were the overall designer responsible for producing the design utilising our in-house resources, as well as engaging other external parties from Tony Gee, Kilborn Consulting and Crayside Consulting to provide discipline-specific input.

Key achievement

The design for the platform extensions achieved AFC ‘Approved for Construction’ before work had started on site.
