SLC’s finance team dedicated a day to volunteering at the Birmingham Central Foodbank at the end of September.
This initiative was part of 15 acts of kindness carried out to mark the 15th anniversary of the rail development and delivery specialist, based in Brindleyplace, who are also collaborating with AECOM in a joint venture as ‘Rail Delivery Partner’ on the West Midlands Rail Programme (WMRP).
During the day, the team provided hands-on support helping to organise and distribute essential supplies to families in need. In addition to volunteering their time, the team also delivered a collection of donations, gathered from colleagues across the company.
Aliyah Khan, Finance Accountant organised the volunteering day and the collection. She said: “It’s been fantastic to see the difference our efforts and contributions made to others. Everyone at Birmingham Central Foodbank went above and beyond to make us feel so welcome and it was a memorable and meaningful experience for all of us!”
Helen Smith, Finance Director said: “We’re really passionate about making a difference to communities through improving connectivity, so it was great to get involved in a different type of activity to our day job to support the local community as part of our 15 year anniversary. I felt so proud of us as a team, working hard alongside the other volunteers, and making a difference to peoples’ lives.”
