Leicester railway station’s transformation is one step closer after obtaining planning permission for the main works.

Since the beginning, we’ve been working with Leicester City Council to obtain funding, developing the procurement strategy and support the Council as their representative and rail advisors, acting as their planning agent and leading on all aspects of stakeholder coordination and engagement.

The innovative scheme will reinvigorate the landmark Victorian station, better connecting it with the city centre through a new entranceway and public space. The Grade II listed building will be upgraded and restored, improving passenger experiences and rejuvenating the station’s role both as a sustainable transport hub and a gateway to our city.

Work has already begun on the pedestrian public area following receiving planning permission for this at the end of last year.

Working with all other partners including Network Rail, East Midlands Railway, Arcadis, AHR, Cundall and Marrons – we can’t wait to make this scheme a reality and improve this gateway for the city.
