SLC, a development and delivery specialist in Birmingham, is pleased to announce that one of its employees has recently been asked to join the Engineering Council’s Quality Assurance Committee (QAC).
Paul McQuade, SLC’s Programme Manager and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), will support the Engineering Council to help determine whether licensees are considered competent to assess applicants for professional registration against the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence and Commitment (UK-SPEC), also to accredit / approve academic courses, qualifications and apprenticeships against Accreditation of Higher Education Programmes (AHEP) and Approval and Accreditation of Qualifications and Apprenticeships (AAQA).
The Engineering Council was set up to maintain the internationally recognised standards for the UK engineering profession, found in the UK-SPEC and the ICTTech Standard.
Paul said: “Throughout my career, I have taken on various volunteering roles, including serving as an ICE Reviewer and Auditor, as I’ve always been passionate about giving back to the industry and supporting the next generation of professionals.
“I am looking forward to contributing to the QAC in its mission to uphold professional excellence and maintain high standards. This is crucial to the engineering profession, ensuring successful outcomes, consistency and safety.”
