Achieving outstanding outcomes through third-party rail schemes What We Do

Bradford Interchange

We're working to develop proposals for a transformational regeneration of the entrance to Bradford Interchange.

Project Overview

As part of the Transforming Cities Fund allocation, The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council (CBMDC) are working to transform pedestrian access between the Interchange and the city centre and its key business, cultural and retail sectors. We’re working for Balfour Beatty, to produce the outline business case and develop the preferred option design for a transformative improvement of the Interchange including improving the access and interior and exterior environments.

Improving the access to Bradford Interchange is part of a wider aspiration to transform Bradford City Centre and forms part of the Transforming Cities Fund programme of work to improve accessibility and promote sustainable and active travel across the city.

What we did

The team from SLC Rail and SLC Property were appointed to develop a suite of concept options to improve connectivity between the Interchange and the city centre and to transform the station environment to improve the users experience and create a gateway to the city. We previously produced the successful Strategic Outline Business Case to secure funding for this stage of development.

We were then reappointed in June 2021, to work in partnership with CBMDC’s strategic delivery partner, Balfour Beatty, to produce the outline design for the preferred option and produce the Outline Business Case (OBC). The company has also been responsible for the development of a full planning application, including a request for screening opinion and pre-application enquiry, as well as advising on land and property interfaces including preparation of Party Wall Agreements. Using their extensive experience and existing relationships, we were also tasked with leading on the engagement with key stakeholder to manage the regulatory interfaces.
