The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK – CILT(UK) – has announced that Ian Walters, the founder and managing director of SLC Rail, will speak at a special CILT (UK) event in Birmingham on 18 July.

This event is a chance for members and non-members of the CILT (UK) to learn from the creative mind behind SLC Rail, the leading company in third party rail schemes that has played a significant role in shaping and developing over 60 rail station projects in the UK.

Ian will shed light on the topic of Private Sector Investment in UK rail and provide timely insights into the crucial role of private sector involvement and investment in driving improvements for rail passengers and successfully delivering rail schemes. This is even more relevant as the railway competes for government funding as it seeks to drive modal shift.

Neil Micklethwaite, Vice President of CILT(UK) said: “The CILT is dedicated to fostering collaboration and continuous learning and hosts a diverse range of events throughout the year. These events encourage industry professionals to come together, share insights, and drive innovation within the transport sector.

“Therefore, we’re excited to have this opportunity for our members to gain knowledge from one of the industry’s foremost experts on harnessing private sector investment to enhance our railway and to meet the evolving needs of our communities.”

The event will take place between 18:00 and 20:30 at SLC’s offices in Brindleyplace and food and nibbles will be provided. Attendance at this event will also entitle CILT members to earn 1.5 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points.
