The Department for Transport today confirmed that it will provide £8m of funding towards the construction of a new, wider replacement south bridge to carry the A45 over the West Coast Mainline.

This new bridge will make a significant difference in the region, easing the pressure on a road which carries over 30,000 vehicles a day between Birmingham International Airport, the NEC and major employers including Jaguar Land Rover.

SLC Rail have been working with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council on this project , advising on rail issues and developing the scope of works with the client and Network Rail, in particular to overcome the constraints of signalling and overhead power lines in this particular location. SLC Rail also provided substantial input to the project management and procurement process.
