Two new railway stations have been opened at Coventry Arena and Bermuda Park by Coventry City Council, Warwickshire County Council and Centro. The stations are part of the Coventry to Nuneaton upgrade project (‘NUCKLE’ – Nuneaton-Coventry-Kenilworth-Leamington ), which is improving links between local economies and amenities to boost the economy of the area.
SLC Rail has been a key advisor to the partners throughout, developing the business case, applying successfully for funding and managing the project through to its opening.
Bermuda Park Station was formally opened by Rail Minister, Claire Perry MP. She commented: “Together with improvements to the Coventry-Nuneaton Rail scheme this offers a real boost for regional transport and this station is tangible evidence of the commitment of Warwickshire County Council and local MP Marcus Jones to getting rail investment in the area.”
Ian Walters, Managing Director of SLC Rail, said: “We are very pleased to be part of this successful partnership, which has seen Warwickshire County Council opening four new stations in just 15 years. The team at SLC Rail is proud to be helping shape and deliver the ambitious vision which is putting Warwickshire ahead in its rail strategy and underpinning local economic growth.”
